Sustainable campus for the administrative elite
In summer 2023, the bidding consortium Kaufmann Bausysteme and PRIMUS developments won the competition for the Federal University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Rostock-Lichtenhagen. Together with the architects Sauerbruch Hutton and the landscape planners ST raum a. from Berlin, a sustainable campus was planned, consisting of a university building and two residential blocks.
The university building in the north of the site offers space for lecture theatres, a library, a canteen, the faculties’ administrative facilities and other modern learning spaces. The main axis of the university building connects all types of use and offers views into the landscaped inner courtyards, which support the natural lighting of the building. The two seven-storey residential blocks, the so-called “residential twins”, enclose an elevated part of the park, which can be reached via an open staircase. The ground floor of the residential buildings will have recreation rooms, leisure areas and a fitness room. The residential modules above offer a suitable retreat for students and students with children.
With this project, Kaufmann Bausysteme and PRIMUS developments are also realising a sustainable, energy-conscious project. The entire project is being built using a resource-conserving, largely CO2-reduced and low-emission timber hybrid and timber module construction method, with a scope of approx. 1000 module units.</p
