HOMEB: 32 modular school extension buildings for Berlin

HOMEB stands for modular timber extension buildings – an innovative concept that creates modern, sustainable and efficient extension buildings for existing schools. A total of 32 such buildings are being constructed in Berlin, which are characterised by a high degree of prefabrication of up to 90%. Windows, sanitary facilities, building services and radiators are already integrated in the factory so that the modules can be assembled directly on site.

The first HOMEB, consisting of 96 modules, was erected at the Bernhard-Grzimek primary school in just 11 days. With a daily output of up to ten modules, this construction method enables fast and resource-saving realisation. All HOMEBs are basically identical in construction, but differ in their façade design in order to blend in perfectly with their surroundings. This concept stands for flexible, barrier-free and high-quality solutions in school construction.
