High-bay warehouse made of wood: sustainability meets innovation
At the new Weleda logistics campus in Schwäbisch-Gmünd, one of the most sustainable logistics complexes in Europe is being built on an area of 72,000 m². One highlight is the high-bay warehouse made entirely of wood, realised by Kaufmann Bausysteme, the experts for timber construction in logistics. Particularly impressive: the excavated material of 3,000 m³ was reused on site – for a solid rammed earth wall and clay plaster surfaces. Complemented by sustainable materials such as concrete and clay, the project has already been awarded the DGNB platinum pre-certificate and sets new standards for ecological and innovative construction methods.
